Lunchtime Insights with Minnesota Assistant Attorney General and NAAG Task Force Chair Elizabeth Odette
On Thursday, December 19, 2024, COSAL’s AG Committee hosted the first in a series of COSAL Lunchtime Insights. Minnesota Assistant Attorney General and the new NAAG Multistate Antitrust Task Force Chair Elizabeth Odette will discuss “The Rise of State Enforcement.”
While federal agencies like the DOJ and FTC primarily oversee antitrust enforcement in national markets, Americans rely on state attorneys general to investigate and pursue antitrust cases independently or in coordination with federal regulators bringing local and regional expertise and focus. This dual approach helps address market dynamics unique to individual states, where local monopolies or anti-competitive behaviors might otherwise go unchecked. Odette will discuss the role of State AGs in recent years and what may be in store in advance of the new Administration.
The discussion was moderated by COSAL AG Committee Co-Chair Jennifer Scullion and AG Committee Vice Co-Chair Abou Amara.
